Australian Bananas peel back the curtain with new 'Farm to Table' video at Sydney Royal Easter Show

Australian Bananas has launched a new 'Farm-to-Table' educational video for kids at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. With bananas being a staple in 90% of Australian households and a regular feature in kids' lunch boxes, this initiative aims to build a connection between children and the origin of their food. By fostering an early appreciation for fresh produce, Australian Bananas is supporting the development of healthy habits and fresh food awareness. 

The video, created by Hort Innovation and Thinkerbell on behalf of Australian Bananas, features Australian professional rugby league player Thomas Flegler at his family banana farm in North Queensland. It takes viewers on a fun and educational journey, showcasing how bananas are grown, harvested, and transported. Blending real-life farm experiences with animated illustrations, it brings to life the adventurous animated character ‘Anna Goes Bananas.  

Hort Innovation Senior Marketing Manager Emma Day commented, "We believe that educating children about where their food comes from is crucial for fostering healthy eating habits. Our new video brings the story of banana farming to life in a way that is both engaging and informative." 

The Australian Bananas activation at the Royal Easter Show is on now at the Woolworths Fresh Food Dome, and is expected to attract more than 900,000 visitors. Showgoers will be able to immerse themselves in the world of bananas and can experience:   

  • Farm-to-plate video: The engaging educational video will be shown on TV screens at the Show, highlighting key stages such as planting, picking, and packing. 

  • Grower conversations: Visitors can learn firsthand about banana farming. 

  • Tasty samples: Families can enjoy samples of banana smoothies, banana pieces, and banana with greek yoghurt and oats, promoting healthy snacks and different ways to enjoy the fruit. 

  • An energising bike ride: An opportunity to power up a blender and create their own smoothie through pedal power and banana energy. 

  • Educational materials: Including a map of all the locations bananas are grown in Australia. There is also a fun colouring in sheet for children who attend the stand to learn more about banana farms.
